      • More winged visitors flock to Adyar Poonga
Posted on 7 months ago  by azhagu with 0 Comments In: Attractions & Landmarks

With more species of migratory birds arriving at the Adyar Poonga (Tholkaapiya Poonga) this monsoon, the documentation of such species in the 58 acres is likely to commence shortly.

Painted storks have come for the first time after eco-restoration of the first phase of the park. Grey heron, large egret, and black winged stilt are some of the other species spotted amid the vast lush green area after the northeast monsoon began last month.

        • New Luxury Air-Conditioned Coaches from Chennai Airport to Annanagar
Posted on 7 months ago  by sreejas147 with 0 Comments In: Transportation

The coaches have been fitted with GPS and electronic display boards to provide passengers information about approaching stops, automatic doors and have separate space for keeping the luggage. The fare would be Rs.100 per passenger. -http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Chennai/article2593790.ece

Thanks Sums...I just missed the airport at Anna Nagar bus yesterday, and how fortunate! Because I got an MTC bus that took me right next to my home at Rs 10! The luxury bus would have cost me Rs 100.

By the way, calling it a luxury bus is stretching the truth a bit, actually a lot...It was like one of those mini buses that ply on our roads...

All the same, a good initiative...guess, very few people know about it though, because the bus to Egmore still had not departed when I reached the stand, and there was no one inside...the bus driver was desperately trying to get some passengers!

            • CHENNAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Posted on 7 months ago  by azhagu with 0 Comments In: Transportation

The new terminals are elegant and modern structures with dramatic, hovering wing-like roof. The super-efficient organization of security and circulation form the basis of an innovative plan that is centered on two lush sustainable gardens. Unlike any other airport in the world, these gardens are visible throughout the terminals creating a unique dialogue between interior and exterior spaces. The building and courtyard concept stems from a fully integrated approach to sustainable planning and design. The symbiotic relationship between the terminal’s visionary form and the courtyard landscape, delivers an enriching and beautiful experience for passengers, visitors and employees. The building’s steel structure rises with a curved roof to form a light and open, column-free terminal with expansive glass curtain walls that create a feeling of spaciousness. Skylights follow the geometry of the trusses, further opening the structural framework to allow natural light to permeate the terminals.
